Special Survival Plan

As a part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan, Ripley’s Aquariums work with other AZA institutions to maintain a genetically diverse, demographically varied, and biologically sound population of various species, from sand tiger sharks and spotted eagle rays to seahorses and sawfish. Across three species, there are only 38 sawfish currently in AZA institutions, with Ripley’s providing a home for a good number of these critically endangered creatures.
