To mark its anniversary, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is inviting guests to dive into a summer full of free, family-friendly events and the grand unveiling of a spectacular new exhibit: “Dragons: Where Myths Become Reality.”
From the very beginning, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies has been a pioneer in immersive marine experiences. It was the first Ripley’s Aquarium to introduce Black-footed Penguins, showcasing a cutting-edge indoor/outdoor habitat all the way back in 2010.
For a quarter of a century, the aquarium has successfully brought the ocean’s mysteries to the mountains, fostering a deep connection between visitors and marine life.

Opening June 15, 2025, the aquarium’s newest blockbuster exhibit will whisk visitors away into a world where ancient legends collide with fascinating real-life reptiles.
This immersive experience explores the powerful connections between mythical dragons and the incredible creatures that inspired these stories throughout history.
A Grand Opening and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony will officially launch the exhibit in early July, bringing an extra dose of excitement to the summer festivities.
